What are the Real Catchment Areas?

Real Catchment Areas help you answer the question: where do my clients come from? 

With our GPS mobile data, we can tell you where the people who visit your store’s area live and/or work. Therefore, instead of using general catchment areas, you can use your Real Catchment Areas for each store based on objective data.

How can I access Real Catchment Areas?

How long does a person need to stay in a specific area for it to be considered a visit? 

If a person stays more than 5 minutes in a store’s area, they are considered to have visited the store/area. 

Do people visit my actual store, or the area around it? 

We consider that people are part of your Real Catchment area if they visit the area of 50 metres by 50 metres around your store. 

What do we consider as residents for “Real Catchment Areas - Home”?

For the Home Real Catchment Areas, we are providing you with the information of: “where do the people who visit the area around my store live?” . 

To do so, we evaluate in what location the anonymised GPS mobile signals spend their weekly nights (simplified explanation). 

What are the timelines considered for pre-Covid/post-Covid periods*?

The timeline considered for pre-Covid is: from the 6th September 2019 to the 31st December 2019. 

The timeline considered for post-Covid is: from the 3rd of March 2020 to the 3rd of May 2020. 

*Please note that those dates might change in future versions of the feature. 

Will this data be updated on a regular basis?

As it stands, the data timelines will remain the same until further notice. Ultimately, we aim to update it regularly and allow you to choose the timeline.

What data do we use for the Real Catchment Areas?

We use our GPS mobile data. This is the same data used for our Traffic data. We use different GPS providers who collect data from mobile apps that require the users’ location. They then sell this anonymised data to third parties such as Geoblink. 

Can I extract/download the information?

In the first version of Real Catchment Areas you can’t download/extract the data. We are working on finding the best way for you to do so in future versions. 

Can I see this for other stores/locations?

In the first version of Real Catchment Areas you can only see the data for your stores. We are working on finding the best way for you to do so in future versions. 

Is RCA part of my current package?
